Cookie Policy
Effective Date: October 13, 2023
This cookie policy (the “Cookie Policy”) describes the different types of cookies, pixel tags, clear gifs, web beacons, web bugs, and similar tracking technologies (collectively, “cookies”) that Pendo.io, Inc. and our subsidiaries and affiliates, including Pendo.io Pty Ltd (Australia), Pendo IO Israel LTD (Israel), Pendo.io Japan Ltd. (Japan), and Pendo.io UK Ltd (United Kingdom) (“Pendo,” “we,” “us,” “our”) may use on our Service. This page contains information on what cookies are, the cookies used on our Service, how to switch cookies off in your browser, and some useful links for further reading on the subject. Any capitalized terms used, but not defined, have the meaning given to them in the Pendo Terms of Service (www.pendo.io/terms-of-service).
We may change this Cookie Policy at any time. The “Effective Date” at the top of this page indicates when this Cookie Policy was last revised. Any changes in this Cookie Policy will become effective when the revised Cookie Policy is published on the Website. If it does not provide the information you were looking for, or you have any further questions about the use of cookies on our Service, or about the use of cookies in our Service, please write to us at 301 Hillsborough St., Suite 1900, Raleigh, NC 27603, ATTN: Legal Department, or by email at [email protected].
1. What is a Cookie?
Cookies are a standard feature of websites and web applications that allow us to store small amounts of data on your computer about your visit to the Website or Service. Cookies help us to learn which areas of the site or application are useful and which areas need improvement.
You can choose whether to accept cookies by changing the settings on your browser. However, if you disable this function, your experience on the Website or Service may be diminished and some features may not work as intended.
2. Why do we use Cookies?
Our Service uses both first-party cookies, which are set by Pendo, and third-party cookies, which are set by third-parties using a server located outside the domain of Pendo’s Service. We use first- and third-party cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for the Service to operate, and we refer to these as “Strictly Necessary” cookies. Some cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources which, depending on whether you are also a Pendo user, Pendo may associate with your Service usage, so that we can measure and improve the performance of our Service, and we refer to these as “Analytics” cookies. Some cookies enable us to provide enhanced functionality and personalization on the Services and we refer to these as “Functional” cookies. Finally, some cookies enable us and our partners to serve targeted advertisements and we refer to these as “Marketing” cookies. The specific types of first- and third-party cookies served through the Service and the purposes they perform are described in the table below.
3. What Cookies Does Pendo Use?
Below we list and explain the categories of the different types of cookies that may be used on the Service. Please refer to the Manage Preferences or Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information center, also accessible at the bottom of https://www.pendo.io, for the full list of cookies under each category. To the extent any Personal Data, as defined in the Privacy Policy, is collected through cookies, our Privacy Policy (https://www.pendo.io/privacypolicy/) provides further information about Pendo’s use of such data.
Strictly Necessary Cookies. These cookies enable you to navigate the Service and to use their services and features. These cookies are necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in or filling in forms. You can set your browser to block or alert you about these cookies, but some parts of the site will not work. These cookies do not store any personally identifiable information.
Analytics Cookies. These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve the performance of our Service. They help us to know which pages are popular and see how visitors move around the Service. If you do not allow these cookies, we will be less able to optimize the Service’s performance. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and anonymous.
Functional Cookies. These cookies enable the website to provide enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not allow these cookies some services may not function properly. These cookies do not directly store personal information, but are based on uniquely identifying your browser and internet device.
Marketing Cookies. Pendo has engaged one or more third party service providers to track and analyze both individualized usage and volume statistical information from interactions with our Service. Third party service providers may also serve cookies on your computer or mobile device to serve advertising through our Service and provide other personalization services in accordance with this Cookie Policy. These companies may collect and use information about your visits to our Services and other websites in order to provide relevant advertisements about goods and services that may interest you. They may also employ technology that is used to measure and track the effectiveness of advertisements. This can be accomplished by the use of cookies or web beacons to collect information about your visits to our Service and other sites in order to provide relevant advertisements about goods and services of potential interest to you. The information collected through this process does not enable us or them to identify your name, contact details or other personal information that directly identifies you unless you choose to provide these.
4. How Do I Manage Cookies?
Advertising choices. You may be able to limit use of your information for interest-based advertising through the following settings/options/tools:
- Browser settings. Changing your internet web browser settings to block third-party cookies.
Privacy browsers/plug-ins. Using privacy browsers and/or ad-blocking browser plug-ins that let you block tracking technologies. - Platform settings. Certain platforms offer opt-out features that let you opt-out of use of your information for interest-based advertising. For example, you may be able to exercise that option for Google and Facebook, respectively, at the following websites:
- Google: https://adssettings.google.com/
- Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/about/ads
- Ad industry tools. Opting out of interest-based ads from companies that participate in the following industry opt-out programs:
- Network Advertising Initiative: http://www.networkadvertising.org/managing/opt_out.asp
- Digital Advertising Alliance: optout.aboutads.info.
- Mobile settings. Using your mobile device settings to limit use of the advertising ID associated with your mobile device for interest-based advertising purposes.
You will need to apply these opt-out settings on each device and browser from which you wish to limit the use of your information for interest-based advertising purposes.
Do Not Track. Some Internet browsers may be configured to send “Do Not Track” signals to the online services that you visit. We currently do not respond to “Do Not Track” signals. To find out more about “Do Not Track,” please visit https://www.allaboutdnt.com.
Exercising your right to opt-out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your Personal Information. While we do not sell personal information for money, like some other companies do, when you visit our digital or online properties (such as our website and social media pages) we use services that help deliver interest-based ads to you as described above. Our use of some of these services may be classified under California law as “selling” or “sharing” your Personal Information (including your Contact Data, Device Data, and Online Activity Data) with the advertising partners that provide the services. You can submit requests to opt-out of this “selling” or “sharing” by going to Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information on our website, or by broadcasting the global privacy control signal. Global Privacy Control can be installed on your browser, or via an extension on your browser, which then sends the global privacy control signal for participating website operators to respect your privacy rights accordingly. Please visit Global Privacy Control to learn more.
